Letters to Parents

Snow Line - Wednesday 13 January

Tomorrow’s forecast is similar to today ie icy in the morning.

School will almost certainly be open from 9am with a skeleton staff – however, it is still advisable to listen to BBC Radio Leeds.  Please consider the conditions and only bring your child/children to school when it is safe to do so.

Lessons will start mid morning to allow for the difficult travelling conditions in these circumstances.  Children in years 1 & 2 will be bringing home a pack of work which they could complete should they have to stay at home.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Maxine Bell

Snow - Monday 11 January 2010

We apologise for any inconvenience and confusion caused by the weather today. At 7am there was no reason to shut school. However, as you are aware, the situation deteriorated. At 8:30am we had only 3 staff in school, but this was too late to make the decision and inform parents that school was closed. As previously mentioned, in our school we must have 1 qualified member of staff for every 30 children. Due to this, the staff in school were asked to tell parents we were open but parents were free to take their children home if it was convenient.

The decision to close school is always made before 7:30am and BBC Radio Leeds informed so it can be on the 7:45am bulletin. Radio Leeds can be found on 92.4FM, 95.3FM & DAB. You can also view the school closure list and listen to the radio on-line at www.bbc.co.uk/leeds.

On days when school is open, we will stay open until 3:15 pm and would only make a decision to close school early in extreme circumstances.

Let's hope we have a thaw soon!
